- THE OGZ -
HISTORY
The Over 40 team, dubbed "The OGZ", are currently competing in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League Over 40 Division. The OGZ were the the first Sporting Astoria team to compete in a USASA national qualifier.
The team joined the CSL Over 40 division in the Fall of 2019. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, the club did not finish their season. In the fall of 2019, the team would win the O40 CSL Club Members Cup going undefeated in 7 games. It was a tournament organized by CSL club Manhattan Celtic.
In 2021, the CSL resumed play and participated in a short spring season. The team would produce their best season finishing second in the standings while averaging 5 goals per game - league record.
For the next two seasons, the team were disassembled due to the club's departure from the CSL to join the newly formed East River Division of the Eastern District Soccer League (EDSL) as a founding member. After two seasons, the club and team returned to the Cosmopolitan Soccer League for the 2023-2024 season.
