In 2013, SASC organized their youth program - SASC KIDZ - an affordable community program aimed at engaging the youth of Astoria to play soccer.
The purpose of the organization is to establish a soccer club based in Astoria but service surrounding areas which include the Bronx. All of the programs are structured with a vision of unity.
The club is committed, dedicated, and devoted to serving ALL New Yorkers by having a "connected" organizational culture .

Sporting Astoria Soccer Club wants everyone to feel welcome, valuable, and an integral part of the Sporting Astoria Soccer Club Family.
SASC was founded by the Romero Family, immigrants from Lima, Peru. The Romero Family brought with them their love of soccer to Astoria which was the foundation for the establishment of the club.
The Romero Family have soccer roots dating back to the 1930's from their family business that the patriarch of the family owned and operated in the district of Rimac. The successful sports manufacturing company was named "Empresas Sporting" in honor of their district's first pro soccer side, Sporting Tobacco, who would eventually become current pro side Sporting Cristal.
Current club president Ed Romero, is the third generation of Romero and responsible for the clubs formation and success. Under his tutelage the club grew from a recreational team into a semi professional team achieving promotion to the Eastern Premier Soccer League (EPSL) for the 2020-2021 season.
Ed Romero and Romero Family are committed to creating a club that will forever represent their family roots, love of the game, and pride of their town of Astoria, Queens.
