The team was assembled and tagged the DAWGZ in the Fall of 2005 to commemorate their registration into the CSL (Cosmopolitan Soccer League) after years of success in local recreational soccer leagues and tournaments. The team would be placed in the leagues lowest division - 4th Division. The team currently competes in the 3rd division and play their home games at Astoria Park in Queens.
Over many seasons, the team would have different home venues - from Long Island City HS to Roosevelt Island to Randalls Island. The team would finally return home in the Spring of 2021, when Astoria Park was renovated and a new turf soccer field unveiled.
The team would spend much of their time in CSL's 3rd division. The team played in the 4th division for only two seasons - 2005-2006 & 2023-2024. They won the division and the playoffs in their inaugural season (2005-2006) - winning promotion to the 3rd division - and won the 4th division promotion playoffs in their first season back in the CSL (2023-2024).
In the summer of 2024, the club agreed to maintain a lower tier team to build players up to an eventual move to the first team. The club felt that the competition in the 3rd division is a great platform for a players development and eventual move to a higher division.
