- THE OGZ -
History
The Over 40 team, tagged "The OGZ", are currently competing in the CSL (Cosmopolitan Soccer League) Over 40 Division. The OGZ were the the first Sporting Astoria team to compete in a USASA national qualifier.
The team joined the CSL Over 40 division in the Fall of 2019. Due to the COVID19 pandemic, the league voided the season. In the fall of 2019, the team would win the O40 CSL Club Members Cup going undefeated in 7 games. It was a tournament organized by fellow CSL club member Manhattan Celtic.
In 2021, the CSL resumed play and participated in a short spring season. The team would produce their best season finishing second in the standings while averaging 5 goals per game - a league record.
For the next two seasons, the team were disassembled due to the club's departure from the CSL to join the newly formed East River Division of the EDSL (Eastern District Soccer League) and as a founding member. After two seasons, the club would return to the CSL allowing the return of the OGz ahead of the 2023-2024 season.
The OGZ reached the final in their first season back. After losing the championship, the team made another final appearance the following season (2024-2025) this time avenging their loss and become the clubs first CSL O40 Division Champions.
