For the 2014-2015 season, Sporting assembled their very first reserve team by merging with with Third Division brethren Queens United. CSL top tier participation mandated each club to roster a reserve team.
The team played in the CSL Reserve Second Division for 5 seasons obtaining a championship in the 2016-2017 season. The team also picked up two runners up medals in the 2017 and 2018 Harry J. Saunders Cup editions.
Ahead of the 2018-2019 season, the club decided to promote their reserve players to the first team. That same summer, the club joined forces with with Bronx brethren South Bronx United to have them join the club as the clubs official reserve team. The partnership allowed the club to produce a historic season.
In the summer of 2022, both South Bronx United and Sporting Astoria SC departed the CSL to become founding members of the East River Division of the Eastern District Soccer League (EDSL).
